In vitro fertilization  (IVF)

There are two methods of fertilization, depending on the semen quality and results of sperm function test,  either by means traditional IVF method, or with a help of micro-fertilization (ICSI). Fertilization in vitro (IVF) is the type of infertility treatment when ovum is fertilized out of female body.

Currently fertilization in vitro is the most efficient type of infertility treatment. If the semen is normal or close to normal in regard to the number of sperm, its motility and morphology, the conventional IVF method can be used for egg fertilization.

The processed semen sample is placed in the dish in which the eggs are cultured. The sperm swim to the eggs and into a special dish attach onto their surface fertilizing them. But for fertilization there should be only one spermatozoid.
